DJH moun10 Youth Hostel | Prices & DJH Membership

The DJH moun10 Youth Hostel in Garmisch-Partenkirchen combines a very central yet quiet location right by the train station with a modern house concept. Opened in December 2018, it offers 192 beds in 53 rooms and focuses on guests who want to combine movement, nature, and short distances with a panoramic sauna, fitness room, lounge, and vegetarian catering. Those arriving by train, ski, bicycle, or on foot benefit from the short distances to the town center and the clear structure of the house. This makes the hostel a compact base station in the Alpine region, especially for active holidaymakers, families, and small groups. ([jugendherberge.de](https://www.jugendherberge.de/jugendherbergen/moun10-garmisch/klassenfahrten/6490/?utm_source=openai))

Prices, DJH Membership, and Booking

For a stay in German youth hostels, DJH membership is generally required. Non-members can also join, and guests from abroad need a membership from their home association or an international guest card. For moun10, this means in practice: those wishing to book here should consider membership early on to ensure a smooth check-in at the train station and that travel planning does not get stuck on a formality. ([jugendherberge.de](https://www.jugendherberge.de/en/terms-conditions/?mobile=0&utm_source=openai))

The official price overview specifies clear membership fees for 2026: 7 euros for juniors up to 26 years, 27.50 euros for individual members from 27 years, for couples, registered or cohabiting couples and families, and 32.50 euros for schools, clubs, institutions, and training companies as corporate members. Those joining for the first time in June only pay half the annual fee in the year of joining. This is especially helpful for families and occasional travelers, as it makes the entry manageable and transparent. ([jugendherberge.de](https://www.jugendherberge.de/upload/preise/preise-767-2026-2.pdf))

The specific overnight prices are deliberately kept flexible and are displayed in the booking form; there, the hostel also refers to daily rates, catering, and possible discounts. Bed linen and towels are included in the price, a discount of up to 10 percent is possible for the non-cancellable rate, and additionally, the youth hostel charges a municipal tourist tax, the amount of which should be inquired about on-site. Therefore, those wanting to travel as cheaply as possible should check availability early and pay attention to rate type, season, and length of stay when booking. ([jugendherberge.de](https://www.jugendherberge.de/upload/preise/preise-767-2026-2.pdf))

Location, Arrival, and Parking at the Station

The location is one of the strongest advantages of the DJH moun10 Youth Hostel: The Garmisch-Partenkirchen train station is only about 0.1 kilometers away, the town center around 1 kilometer, and the nearest bus stop is also just 0.1 kilometers away. This makes arriving by train or bus extremely convenient, especially when traveling with luggage, skis, or children. The connection is also practical for day trips in the region, as the location allows for quick starts in all directions and keeps the distances short from the very beginning. ([jugendherberge.de](https://www.jugendherberge.de/jugendherbergen/moun10-garmisch))

Practical for travel planning are the opening hours: The house is open around the clock, the reception is staffed from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM, check-in is possible from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM, and check-out is until 10:00 AM. Those arriving later should keep these times in mind and not calculate their arrival too tightly. The bar in the lounge is open from 5:30 PM to 11:00 PM, providing a clear framework for winding down after a day in the mountains and structuring the stay pleasantly in the evening. ([jugendherberge.de](https://www.jugendherberge.de/jugendherbergen/moun10-garmisch))

For drivers, there are some underground parking spaces that can be booked upon request with the room reservation for 14 euros per night; the maximum height for entry is 2 meters. The parking space is available from 1:00 PM on the day of arrival and until 11:00 AM on the day of departure. Additionally, the youth hostel mentions public, partially paid parking spaces in the vicinity that can be reached on foot in up to 15 minutes, and refers to a free parking lot at the Olympia Ice Sports Center. So those arriving by car can choose between comfortable underground parking and affordable alternatives. ([jugendherberge.de](https://www.jugendherberge.de/jugendherbergen/moun10-garmisch))

Rooms, Beds, and Comfort

With 192 beds in 53 rooms, the moun10 is large enough for individual guests, couples, families, and groups, yet remains manageable and personal in character. The room categories range from single and double rooms to four-bed and six-bed rooms. This mix makes the house flexible: those seeking peace and privacy find compact rooms, those traveling with friends or family get suitable multi-bed solutions, and those planning a group trip can adjust the room occupancy to their own needs. ([jugendherberge.de](https://www.jugendherberge.de/jugendherbergen/moun10-garmisch))

The furnishings are clearly designed for everyday practicality. In the double rooms, there are two single beds, a shower and toilet in the room, a sink, as well as a table, drawers, and chairs. In the four-bed rooms, there are two single beds and a bunk bed, while the six-bed rooms are equipped with three bunk beds. This makes the hostel not only functional but also predictable: you already know before the trip what room sizes and basic amenities to expect. ([jugendherberge.de](https://www.jugendherberge.de/jugendherbergen/moun10-garmisch))

Other amenities include a dining room, conference rooms, fitness room, sauna, relaxation room, and lounge. The official photo gallery shows the modern exterior, reception area, a room, the dining room, and the sauna, conveying very well that the hostel is visually and functionally aimed at a modern audience. The references to verified accessibility, Bett+Bike, and the organic seal underline the claim to be more than just a simple sleeping place. For travelers who value structure, cleanliness, and short distances, this is a strong overall package. ([jugendherberge.de](https://www.jugendherberge.de/jugendherbergen/moun10-garmisch))

Sauna, Fitness Room, and 100% Vegetarian Catering

Among the most popular highlights are the panoramic sauna and the fitness room. The sauna offers panoramic views of the Alps, the relaxation room is equipped with loungers, Alpine views, and hanging tents, and the fitness area features a stepper, rowing machine, and indoor cycle for movement after an active day. This is complemented by a fingerboard setup, which is intended as a playful additional attraction for short breaks or rainy days. So those who have been out in the mountains during the day find not only sleeping places here but also real relaxation spaces within the house. ([jugendherberge.de](https://www.jugendherberge.de/jugendherbergen/moun10-garmisch))

Even in everyday life, the hostel is well equipped: free Wi-Fi throughout the house, luggage storage, electric car charging station, washing machine, dryer, and game rental are part of the guest service. This is especially pleasant for longer stays, as it allows for easy organization of sports equipment, wet clothing, or family life. The combination of functional infrastructure and relaxed atmosphere fits well with the location between the train station, town center, and mountains and ensures that the hostel works well for both short trips and multi-day travels. ([jugendherberge.de](https://www.jugendherberge.de/jugendherbergen/moun10-garmisch))

For meals, the DJH moun10 Youth Hostel relies heavily on reliability and simplicity: breakfast buffet from 7:00 AM to 9:30 AM, lunch packages, further catering requests on request, free water, and food events by arrangement are on the official list. Particularly notable is the clear focus on vegetarian catering, which, according to house information, will be run as a 100 percent vegetarian concept starting April 13, 2026. For guests who travel consciously or want to easily provide for themselves after active days, this is a real plus and a clear profile feature of the hostel. ([jugendherberge.de](https://www.jugendherberge.de/jugendherbergen/moun10-garmisch))

Conferences, Seminars, and Group Stays

The moun10 is also well prepared for conferences and seminars. The multifunctional room on the 4th floor measures 100 square meters, has plenty of natural light, a wonderful mountain view, and direct access to the rooftop terrace. Depending on the seating arrangement, it can accommodate up to 46 people in cinema format, 32 in parliament, 32 in block, 30 in U-shape, and 32 in a circle. This makes the room suitable for smaller meetings, workshops, team days, and compact training sessions with an alpine ambiance, where the surroundings do not distract but can even support the work mode. ([jugendherberge.de](https://www.jugendherberge.de/jugendherbergen/moun10-garmisch/tagen/))

The conference technology is practical and complete: projector, flip chart, free Wi-Fi, screen, magnetic board, meta-plan board, moderation kit, pin board, whiteboard, and Click Share are available. Overnight guests benefit from a 25 percent discount on room rental, and for half-day use of a maximum of five hours, there is a 40 percent discount. Additionally, there is a room rate starting at 490 euros per day, making the room particularly manageable for small to medium groups. So if you are looking for a clearly structured workspace with a mountain view, you will find a very manageable but well-equipped setting here. ([jugendherberge.de](https://www.jugendherberge.de/jugendherbergen/moun10-garmisch/tagen/))

The house was opened in December 2018 and is therefore relatively young; according to DJH communication, it is aimed at sports enthusiasts, families, and small groups. These target groups particularly benefit from the combination of compact paths, leisure offerings, and internal retreats. Those planning a school trip, a team stay, or a trip focused on movement and nature will find in the moun10 a modern base that does not appear as a classic large accommodation but rather as a functional design house and therefore seems pleasantly uncomplicated in group planning. ([jugendherberge.de](https://www.jugendherberge.de/jugendherbergen/moun10-garmisch/klassenfahrten/6490/?utm_source=openai))

Leisure Tips around Zugspitze, Partnach Gorge, and the Alps

A dense network of excursion destinations awaits around the youth hostel. The official leisure tips mention hiking in the Alps, Zugspitze, Partnach Gorge, Höllentalklamm, Wank, Alpspix, and numerous other tours. The location at the mountain backdrop makes it clear why the hostel is especially exciting for active guests: from a leisurely walk to a challenging mountain tour, much is possible without having to plan long drives. This is ideal for those who do not want to stay only in the house during their vacation but want to set off right after breakfast. ([jugendherberge.de](https://www.jugendherberge.de/jugendherbergen/moun10-garmisch))

In winter, the connection is particularly strong. Opposite the youth hostel is the Zugspitzbahnhof, from where the Zugspitzbahn goes directly to Germany's highest mountain. The free ski shuttle stops at the train station just a few meters away and takes guests to the Hausberg valley station; on foot, according to house information, it takes about 15 minutes to reach the next ski area Garmisch Classic, with the bus even only about seven minutes to the entrance to skiing fun. This makes the accommodation very attractive for ski, snowboard, and freeride vacations and explains why the house fits so well into the regional offer for sporty active travelers. ([jugendherberge.de](https://www.jugendherberge.de/jugendherbergen/moun10-garmisch/portraet/freizeit-tipps/))

The surroundings are also exciting for day guests and families: the town center with shops and restaurants is quickly accessible, as is the outdoor pool, bicycle rental, climbing hall, and various sports offerings nearby. The mentioned distances include, among others, Hausbergbahn, Kreuzeck and Alpspitzbahn, Grubigstein, and Ehrwald, making the hostel a practical starting point for different altitudes and destinations. Those preferring to explore culturally or scenically will find many opportunities for a varied stay with city walks, viewpoints, and natural destinations such as Partnach Gorge. My third time staying here with family on a ski trip. It’s a super spot to stay with kids as the breakfast is great, it’s very handy for the train station and you can bring in take away for dinner after a long day on the slopes. The sauna is also great. Service from some is more with a frown than a smile but I’ll still be back.

The location is nice, paid 170 per night for two and not a good experience at all. They also ask for a paid membership for international guests. The room was clean but cold and they make you strip the bed to do the laundry. But still have to check in at 4 because they are cleaning?!? It has no nightstands or a table inside the room that can be used. Basically a bed and one small towel. Be careful if you want one more towel you need to pay for it, even for sauna. I would rate it high only for the location, really convenient. But will pay 10 more euros and stay at a hotel nearby next time that does not make me clean the room. Never stayed at such a bad and expensive hostel before.

Our first stop in Germany was Moun 10 in Munich, and it left an extremely poor impression. During check-in, we experienced behaviour that was clearly unprofessional and deeply disrespectful — completely out of line for anyone working in hospitality. What should have been a simple welcome turned into an uncomfortable and embarrassing moment for us as guests from Asia. The apartment itself is decent, but this experience overshadowed everything. During checkout, the same staff also behaved in an unhelpful and dismissive way. This was the first and only time in our years of travelling across Europe that we felt genuinely unwelcome. Management should urgently address how guests are being treated at the reception.

We paid €180 per night for two people and the stay was very disappointing. No hairdryer, no shelves or nightstands in the room. Check-in only after 16:00 and check-out already at 10:00, so you basically pay for less than a day. On arrival they forced us to buy some “membership card” that was never mentioned during booking. Breakfast was poor. The room had two strange locked doors (probably to other rooms) and the view was just into a courtyard. Overall, not worth the money at all.

Probably the best hostel I’ve ever stayed in. The staff is very friendly and helpful. You get free bus rides, a good breakfast included, and sauna access with the best view of the mountains! Also a room to keep your bike safe ❤️
